How we pour
Hearthglow began in 2018 in a Hudson apartment kitchen with a double boiler and a kitchen scale. The scale is still in use. The kitchen is now a studio on Warren Street.
Soy and coconut, nothing else
Paraffin throws scent well but burns dirty. Pure soy is clean but soft. Our blend adds coconut wax for a smooth top and a stronger throw, with no petroleum in the jar.
Blended at 185 degrees, to the gram
Each scent is a blend of fragrance and essential oils, free of phthalates and parabens. Oils go in at exactly 185°F and are stirred for two full minutes so they bind to the wax instead of sweating out later.
Cotton, sized to the jar
A wick that is too small tunnels. One that is too large soots. We burn-test every scent in every vessel with six wick sizes and keep the one that melts edge to edge in two hours.
Every batch, cold and hot
A jar from each batch is smelled cold the next day and burned the following week. If the throw is off or the top sinks, the batch is remelted. Roughly one in twenty does not pass.
